What’s More Fun Than Going to a Brunch?

October 17th, 2010

Going to a brunch with a group of bloggers.  The gracious hostess for this get together was Penny of both The Comforts of Home and Lavender Hill Studio.  Pictured above is Donnie of New Blessings Everyday, Me, and Sam of My Carolina Kitchen.  There were 14 bloggers who attended.  Most of us are from the North Carolina area.

Pictured above from left to right back row are Ulrike, Angie, Mary, Sherri, Jeanne, Jennifer and Melinda.  Front Row – Sam, Me, Rhondi, Diane, our hostess extraodinaire Penny, Donnie, and Kim. I thank Rhondi for sharing this picture with me.  Mine was not great.
Penny served a wonderful brunch which included 4 different quiches, a salad, homemade pumpkin bread, and fresh fruit.  Her home is so welcoming and beautiful.  She and Mr. Comforts of Home have been working on it for the last year and have done a magnificent job.  After brunch we all went antiquing.
One of our favorite places to shop in Asheville is The Screen Door.  The antiques are unusual and up to the minute in trendiness.  There is also a wonderful bookstore attached that sells cookbooks, design books and gardening books at a substantial discount.
In case you want something different in pumpkins, try white ones with ribbon embellishments.

After a day of eating, laughing and shopping we were all tired.  Here are the two Pennys chilling out before heading home.  I think Penny is probably more exhausted than I am.  Thank you Penny for a wonderful day!  It was so good to meet everyone. And thanks Rhondi for this picture.

That’s what I think of as a “Happening” day—when you’re out and about with a fun destination in the sunshine, and then THIRTEEN friends to have such a deeeeelicious brunch with. And in such a gorgeous home!!

Such a warm welcome and beautiful food, and then the tour of the shops—what a well-planned, beautifully-accomplished Fall Saturday.

Just like Mary Poppins. Practically perfect in every way. The PRACTICALLY comes in only becaue I was too far away to attend. Poo.

I’m SO glad Y’all got together for such a fun event!!

What a lot of fun that day must have been. I was surprised at how many bloggers I ‘recognized’ as I never really know where anyone is, unless they post a location. I’ve loved reading the posts about the meeting – didn’t Penny treat you beautifully!?

  6. Oh I am SO mad I missed it! I was dying to go and was so upset that I had surgery scheduled last week! I would SO much rather have been with you guys! 🙂

  7. Believe me Penny, I had the MOST fun! Wasn’t it a ball meeting all of the bloggers. The sound level in my house when all of us got together was amazing! We were all laughing, talking and having a ball.

Thank you for coming. It wouldn’t have been the same without you! We need to get together before you head back south.

What a wonderful, delightful day it looks like you had! I told Penny if I was still living in the Carolinas I would have gone – it looks like fun was had by all.

Hello Penny, I enjoyed meeting you so much yesterday. I also appreciate the ride in your terrific car. It really makes me want to buy one. However, ours is paid for and I love that. smile. Penny had such a lovely blog party and it was awesome to have met lots of new friends with all of us having blogging in common. A lovely day with the nicest women.

Love your post and your photos. It is very late and you are the last visit I am making tonight. I am going to post a bit about the party next. I should tell you I don’t usually stay up this late. I slept all evening on the couch. A bad thing to do. HA!
    Love, Jeanne

  16. Penny, I had a blast and it was so nice meeting you. I am at the hospital waiting for Leila to be born. We got here early this morning after going back home last night since Leila is taking her time. My daughter is asleep since she has already had the epidural. Seems to be much easier having a baby these days.

Hope you have a good one.

Bob and I loved meeting you Penny – what a fabulous day it was, easy to see how we had such fun – we all have such a lot in common!

Penny was the best hostess – the food was scrumptious – and getting to know so many bloggers who love the same things made for the perfect Autumn day in North Carolina!

Hope we meet up again some day dear.
    Hugs – Mary
