My Paris Apartment Kitchen

7th Arrondissement Eiffel Tower apartment rental

It is never to soon to plan a trip.  As you probably know we will be leaving soon on a motorcycle tour of Alaska.  This is David’s dream trip.  Paris is mine.  So I have been researching places to stay in Paris for June of 2012.  I found the perfect apartment in the 7th Arrondissement five minutes away from the Eiffel Tower and steps from Rue Cler, the famous market street.  It is on a quiet residential street and has a king size bed in the separate bedroom, both a tub and shower, a lovely living room furnished in Brittany antiques, and a full compliment of books (in English), CDs, DVDs, etc.  But this is what I really liked.  The kitchen is complete with a new stove with rotisserie oven.  I have found that most apartments for rent in Paris have only a microwave and a 2 burner hob.  It is also less expensive than staying in a hotel.  I am booking it today.  In celebration of my great find, last night I made Ina Garten’s Lemon Chicken with Croutons from her Barefoot in Paris cookbook.

All over Paris you can find rotisserie chickens.  The drippings from the roasting birds baste sourdough croutons beneath them.  Following Ina’s directions,  I sauteed sourdough bread cubes and put them on my serving platter.

I roasted my chicken.

I felt like I needed more pan juices to pour over the chicken and croutons so I added a can of chicken broth to the pan drippings.

And dinner was served.

You can find the recipe for Lemon Chicken with Croutons here.

  1. Love your Paris apartment Penny. Great choice.

I’d like to know how you found such a nice place to stay in Paris and if you have a web site you like.

I also love this chicken recipe. I’m made it many times and it’s always a winner. Plus it’s easy too.

What a nice place to stay! I will be in Paris at the end of October 2012. Too bad our dates don’t coincide.

I am going to pull out my Ina in Paris cookbook and make this…it sounds so wonderful.

  3. I’m coming with you ok? That looks like a wonderful apartment. You are really going to love the location. You can go to Rue Cler and pick up your dinner….so many wonderful shops from cheese, meats, bread, flowers and more.
    Hugs,
    Penny

  4. I have yet to make an Ina Garten recipe that doesn’t turn out great. My dream is to go Paris. Great apartment find. Wow, I hope I’m that lucky, when our turn comes to fly over to France. Hmmmm, I might have to ask you for info on how to rent this myself!

I wonder how many of us can you squeeze into that apartment! It looks fantastic, and so does the chicken!

Now, if I weren’t so happy for you I might be a bit envious. The apartment sounds wonderful. With accomodations taken care of, you’ll have a year to plan the things you want to do. It’s going to be fantastic. I hope you enjoy the Alaska trip. I never would have pictured you on a motorcycle :-). I think that’s really cool. Have a great day. Blessings…Mary

Love it that you’ve made reservations, Penny! 🙂 Good for you. (Be sure to check my blog on Saturday. Anita from Castles, Crowns and Cottages is having a Paris party and I’m part of it. You might have fun checking out her links.)
I’ve made Ina’s chicken recipe..it’s fabulous. But then, you know how much I love Ina!

Love, love, love it! In fact, I realized that Ina’s Paris cookbook is the one I don’t have, so I ordered it. I will certainly make the roasted chicken. Penny, before you got to gay Paree, you must read McCullough’s new book The Greater Journey. Can’t wait to see the salmon recipes you pick up in Alaska. Thanks for this vicarious treat.

It is cool that you are just 5 minutes away from the Eiffel Tower, how does that feel? I have not been to Paris but I have been in Argentina, and they say its capital is the Paris of South America. I also got a buenos aires apartment which was super close to the Recoleta Cemetery, where Evita Peron´s body is buried.
    I had the best time!
